Nusuk Platform Guide — How to Apply for Umrah Online

Complete guide to using the Nusuk platform for Umrah visa applications, Rawdah permits, and Umrah slot bookings — step-by-step for Indian pilgrims.

What Is the Nusuk Platform?

Nusuk (nusuk.sa) is the official digital platform of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Launched to streamline and digitalise the entire Umrah experience, it serves as the central hub for:

  • Umrah visa applications
  • Umrah permit booking (time slots for Masjid Al-Haram)
  • Rawdah (Prophet's Mosque — Raudat Ash-Sharif) visit permit booking
  • Accommodation and transportation search
  • Pilgrim profile management

Nusuk replaced several older systems and is the official and authorised route for individual pilgrims from India to apply for their Umrah visa without going through an agent.

What Can You Do on Nusuk?

Visa application: Submit your Umrah visa application directly. Upload all required documents, pay the fee, and track your application status.

Umrah permit (Tawaf and Sa'y scheduling): During peak periods, Masjid Al-Haram operates on a timed-entry permit system. Book your preferred time slot for performing Tawaf and Sa'y through Nusuk.

Rawdah permit: The Rawdah is the area in Masjid Al-Nabawi (Prophet's Mosque in Madinah) between the Prophet's grave and his pulpit. Visiting the Rawdah requires a permit booked through Nusuk. These permits are in very high demand and must be booked in advance.

Accommodation: Nusuk lists partner hotels near Masjid Al-Haram. You can browse and book directly through the platform.

Transportation: Ground transport between cities (Makkah and Madinah) can be arranged through the platform.

How to Create a Nusuk Account

  1. Visit nusuk.sa on a desktop browser or download the Nusuk app (available on iOS and Android)
  2. Click "Register" or "Create Account"
  3. Enter your mobile number — an OTP will be sent to verify
  4. Fill in your personal details: full name (exactly as in passport), date of birth, email address, nationality
  5. Upload your passport photo page
  6. Your account will be verified against Saudi immigration databases (this may take a few minutes)

Important: Use the exact same spelling of your name as in your passport. Any discrepancy between your Nusuk profile and your passport will cause issues with your visa application.

How to Book an Umrah Permit

Once you have arrived in Saudi Arabia and your Umrah visa is active:

  1. Log in to the Nusuk app
  2. Go to "Umrah Services" → "Book Umrah Permit"
  3. Select your preferred date and time for Tawaf
  4. Confirm the booking — you will receive a QR code that is scanned at the entrance to Masjid Al-Haram

During peak periods (Ramadan, school holidays), slots fill up very quickly — sometimes within minutes of release. Check the app daily and book as soon as slots become available for your preferred dates.

How to Book a Rawdah Visit

The Rawdah in Madinah is one of the most spiritually significant spots for Muslim pilgrims, and visit slots are extremely limited.

  1. Log in to the Nusuk app
  2. Go to "Madinah Services" → "Rawdah Permit"
  3. Select your gender (men and women visit at separate times)
  4. Choose a date and time slot
  5. Confirm — you will receive a permit QR code

Rawdah permits are among the hardest to secure during peak season. Book as soon as you arrive in Madinah — do not wait. Slots can run out days in advance.

Nusuk App — Download and Setup

iOS: Available on the Apple App Store — search "Nusuk" Android: Available on the Google Play Store — search "Nusuk"

After downloading:

  • Log in with your registered mobile number
  • The app is primarily in Arabic but has an English interface — toggle language in Settings
  • Enable push notifications so you receive alerts for permit availability and application updates
  • Download offline maps of Masjid Al-Haram if available, as connectivity inside the mosque can be poor

Nusuk Platform vs. Using an Agent

| Feature | Nusuk Direct | Licensed Agent | |---|---|---| | Cost | Lower (no service fee) | Higher (service fee ₹500–₹2,500) | | Document checking | Self-service | Agent reviews before submission | | Error correction | You handle it | Agent assists | | Best for | Experienced applicants | First-time or complex cases | | Language support | English and Arabic | Often Hindi/Urdu support available | | Rejection support | Self-navigate | Agent guides you |

Common Nusuk Issues and Fixes

Issue: OTP not received during registration Fix: Ensure your Indian mobile number has international SMS enabled. Try again after a few minutes. If the issue persists, use WhatsApp verification if the option is shown.

Issue: Account verification stuck or failed Fix: Ensure your name on Nusuk exactly matches your passport. A single spelling difference can prevent verification.

Issue: Visa payment failing Fix: Use a Visa or Mastercard with international transactions enabled. Some Indian cards block international online payments by default — enable it through your bank's mobile app before paying.

Issue: Permit slots not visible Fix: Slots are released on specific days and times — check Nusuk announcements for release schedules. Be ready at the release time.

Issue: App showing error on Android Fix: Clear app cache (Settings → Apps → Nusuk → Clear Cache) and try again. Ensure you are using the latest version of the app.

Nusuk in Hindi — Is It Available?

As of 2025, the Nusuk platform is available in English and Arabic. A Hindi interface is not currently available. However, the English interface is straightforward, and most Indian pilgrims navigate it without difficulty.

For pilgrims more comfortable in Hindi or Urdu, licensed Indian Umrah agents provide full assistance in regional languages and handle the Nusuk process on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Nusuk platform safe to use with my passport details? Yes. Nusuk is the official Saudi government platform operated under the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Your data is stored securely by the Saudi government.

Do I need a Nusuk account if I am applying through an agent? Your agent may create a Nusuk account on your behalf, or they may use their own agency access. Ask your agent how they handle this — in either case, you should have a record of your application reference number.

Can my family share one Nusuk account? No. Each pilgrim — including children — needs their own Nusuk profile linked to their own passport.

Is the Nusuk app available in India? Yes, it is available on both the Indian App Store and Google Play Store. You can create your account and start your visa application from India before travelling.

What do I do if I lose my e-visa? Log in to your Nusuk account and download the visa again. The e-visa remains accessible in your account after issue.
