Step 1 — Check Your Eligibility
Before touching any forms, confirm you meet all basic requirements:
- You hold a valid Indian passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity from your intended travel date
- Your passport has a minimum of 2 blank pages for immigration stamps
- You are a Muslim national — Saudi immigration verifies religious identity
- You do not have an active Saudi travel ban or previous overstay record
- If you are a woman under 45, you have either a mahram who will travel with you or documentation to join an organised group
If any of these conditions are not met, resolve them before proceeding. A passport renewal takes 1–7 days (Tatkal) or 30–45 days (normal). Resolve bans through the Saudi embassy.
Step 2 — Gather Your Documents
Collect the following before starting the online form. Having everything ready prevents delays mid-application.
Mandatory for all applicants:
- Passport (original — scan the bio data page)
- Passport photograph — white background, 35×45 mm, recent (within 6 months)
- Confirmed return airline tickets showing your name and travel dates
- Hotel booking confirmation for all nights in Saudi Arabia
- Meningococcal meningitis (ACWY) vaccination certificate
Additional for women under 45:
- Mahram's passport copy (photo page)
- Proof of relationship — marriage certificate (for husband-wife), birth certificate (for father-daughter), etc.
Additional for children:
- Birth certificate
- Passport of accompanying parent/guardian
Additional for groups:
- Letter of authorisation from group organiser
- List of group members
Scan all documents at 300 DPI or higher. Save as PDF or high-quality JPEG.
Step 3 — Fill in the Application Form
You can apply directly on the Nusuk platform (nusuk.sa) or through a licensed agent. The form requires:
- Personal details: Full name exactly as in passport, date of birth, nationality, gender
- Passport details: Passport number, issue date, expiry date, issuing authority
- Contact information: Mobile number (must be reachable during processing), email address
- Travel details: Intended arrival date, departure date, accommodation in Saudi Arabia
- Emergency contact: Name and phone number of someone not travelling with you
Triple-check the spelling of your name and the passport number. These must exactly match your passport and airline ticket. A single character difference can cause rejection.
Step 4 — Upload Your Documents
After filling the form, you will be prompted to upload scanned copies of your documents. Follow these guidelines:
- File formats accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG (check platform for current requirements)
- Maximum file size: usually 2–5 MB per file
- Minimum scan resolution: 300 DPI
- Ensure all text is clearly legible — if you zoom in on the scan and cannot read it clearly, neither can the reviewer
- Upload in colour, not black and white
Common upload errors to avoid:
- Uploading a photo of a document taken with a phone at an angle (causes distortion and shadows)
- Compressing files too aggressively, making text blurry
- Uploading the wrong page (e.g., uploading the back of the passport instead of the bio data page)
Step 5 — Review and Pay
Before submitting, review every field of the application form against your original passport. Check:
- Name spelling
- Passport number
- Date of birth
- Passport expiry date
- Travel dates (should fall within intended visa validity)
Once satisfied, proceed to payment. The platform accepts major international debit and credit cards. Visa fees are charged by Saudi authorities in Saudi Riyals (SAR); the equivalent in Indian Rupees will appear at checkout based on current exchange rates.
Keep a screenshot or email confirmation of your payment.
Step 6 — Track Your Application
After submission, you will receive:
- A reference/application number by email
- Access to a tracking dashboard in your Nusuk account (or via your agent)
Status updates to watch for:
- Under review: Application received and being processed
- Additional documents required: You need to upload something extra — act promptly
- Approved: Visa issued — download immediately
- Rejected: See the reason provided and prepare to reapply
Processing times: 3–7 working days (standard), 24–48 hours (express service).
Step 7 — Receive Your E-Visa
Once approved, your e-visa arrives by email as a PDF. It includes:
- Your full name and passport number
- Visa number
- Issue date and expiry date
- Number of permitted entries
- A QR/barcode that immigration officers scan on arrival
Actions to take immediately after receiving your e-visa:
- Save the PDF to your phone (offline, not just in email)
- Print at least one physical copy
- Verify your name and passport number on the visa against your actual passport
Do not arrive at the airport with only an on-screen version — always have a backup.
Common Errors at Each Step
| Step | Common Error | How to Avoid | |---|---|---| | Eligibility | Overlooking passport expiry | Check expiry date first, before booking flights | | Documents | Blurry scans | Use a scanner at 300 DPI; avoid phone camera at angles | | Application form | Name spelling mismatch | Copy your name letter-by-letter from your passport | | Upload | Wrong file uploaded | Label your scans clearly before uploading | | Payment | Card declined | Use a Visa/Mastercard with international transactions enabled | | Tracking | Missing email updates | Check spam folder; add sender to contacts | | E-visa | Not downloading immediately | Download right away; platform links can expire |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply while still in India? Yes — the entire process is online. You apply from India and receive your e-visa by email. You travel once the visa is issued.
Do I need to go to the Saudi Embassy in India? No. Umrah visas are processed entirely online. There is no requirement to visit any embassy.
What if I make a mistake in the application form? If you catch it before submission, correct it in the form. After submission, contact your agent or the Nusuk support team immediately — corrections may require a fresh application.
Can I apply for multiple people in one submission? On the Nusuk platform, each person must have their own account and application. Agents can handle group submissions with a single point of contact.
How do I know if my documents were received? You will get a confirmation email after submission. You can also log into your Nusuk account to see the document status in the application dashboard.
