Women Travelling for Umrah
Saudi Arabia has specific regulations for women undertaking Umrah. Here is a summary of the current rules for Indian women pilgrims:
Women Under 45
Must be accompanied by a mahram (close male relative: husband, father, brother, or adult son). The mahram must also hold a valid Umrah visa.
Women 45 and Above
May travel without a mahram as part of an organised group, accompanied by a No Objection Certificate (NOC) signed by their mahram.
Rules are subject to change. Our team stays current with Saudi Ministry regulations — contact us for the latest guidance.
Children Travelling for Umrah
- ✓Every child must hold their own valid Indian passport — they cannot be added to a parent's passport
- ✓Children require their own individual Umrah visa application
- ✓Birth certificate may be required to prove relationship to accompanying parent
- ✓If a child travels with one parent only, a No Objection Letter from the absent parent may be required
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum passport validity for an Umrah visa?
Your Indian passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining beyond your intended date of travel to Saudi Arabia. Passports expiring sooner will be rejected by Saudi authorities. We recommend renewing your passport well in advance if it expires within 8 months.
What are the exact photo specifications for the Umrah visa?
Photographs must be 35mm wide × 45mm tall, taken against a plain white background. The face should be clearly visible with no headwear (except for religious reasons), no glasses, and taken within the last 6 months. The photo must be in colour, not black and white.
Can women travel for Umrah without a mahram?
Women aged 45 and above may travel for Umrah without a mahram as part of an organised group tour, provided they submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their mahram. Women under 45 are generally required to travel with a mahram (husband, father, brother, or son). Rules may vary — contact us to confirm requirements for your specific situation.
Do children need their own passport for Umrah?
Yes, every child travelling to Saudi Arabia must have their own individual passport. Children cannot be listed on a parent's passport under current Saudi regulations. Children travelling with one parent may need additional documentation from the absent parent.
Can I apply with a damaged or worn passport?
Saudi authorities may reject applications submitted with damaged, torn, or heavily worn passports. If your passport shows significant wear, water damage, or has torn pages, we strongly recommend renewing it before applying. Contact our team if you are unsure about your passport's condition.
