Documents
Which documents are required and exactly how to prepare them
What is the complete list of documents required for Umrah visa?
The core documents required are: (1) Valid Indian passport with 6+ months validity, (2) Recent passport photograph with white background, (3) Confirmed return airline ticket, (4) Hotel booking in Makkah, (5) Vaccination certificate for Meningococcal meningitis (ACWY). Additional documents required for women (marriage or relationship certificate), children (birth certificate), and groups.
What background colour should my visa photo have?
White background only. Saudi Arabia strictly enforces a white background for Umrah visa photographs. Photos with any other background colour — grey, blue, cream — will be rejected. The photo must also be taken recently (within the last 6 months), show a clear frontal view of your face, and meet specific size requirements (35mm x 45mm).
Do I need to upload original documents or can I upload scans?
For the online application, you upload clear digital scans or photographs of your documents. The originals are not submitted online. However, you must carry your original passport, vaccination certificate, and other documents when you travel — Saudi immigration will check them on arrival.
What if my name is spelled differently on my passport versus my ticket?
This is one of the most common reasons for visa delay or rejection. Your full name must match exactly across all documents — passport, airline ticket, and hotel booking. Even a minor spelling difference (e.g., "Mohammad" vs "Mohammed") can trigger a manual review. Contact your airline or travel agent to correct any discrepancies before applying.
Can I use my old passport if I recently renewed?
You should use your current, valid passport for the Umrah visa application. However, if you have Saudi entry/exit stamps in your old passport that are relevant (e.g., previous Umrah records), you may be asked to carry both. Apply using your new passport, but bring your old passport when travelling.
What vaccination certificate do I need?
You need a Meningococcal ACWY (quadrivalent) vaccination certificate. The certificate must show your name, the vaccine type (ACWY), date of administration, batch/lot number, and the doctor or clinic's stamp. The vaccine must have been administered within the past 3 years. Certificates in English or Arabic are accepted.
What documents do women need for Umrah visa?
Women under 45 need: (1) All standard documents plus (2) Proof of relationship with their mahram (e.g., marriage certificate if travelling with husband, or birth certificate showing father-daughter relationship). Women over 45 travelling without a mahram need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their mahram and proof of travel in a licensed group.
What documents do children need?
Children need their own Indian passport, a recent photograph, and a birth certificate showing both parents' names. The accompanying parent or guardian must carry their own visa and proof of guardianship. Children's applications are submitted alongside the accompanying adult's application.
Do I need a bank statement for Umrah visa?
A bank statement is not typically required for standard Umrah visa applications through a licensed agency. It may be requested in some cases for additional financial verification, but it is not on the standard document list. If requested, it should show the last 3 months of transactions with a balance sufficient to cover your trip.
How do I scan and upload my documents?
Documents should be scanned at a minimum of 300 DPI in colour. The file format should be JPEG or PDF. Each file should be under 2MB. The document should be fully visible — no cut-off edges or shadows. If using a smartphone camera, ensure adequate lighting and scan the document flat on a surface.
