Nusuk Platform
How to use the Saudi government's Nusuk app for permits and bookings
What is the Nusuk app?
Nusuk is the official digital platform of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. It is used to book Umrah permits, Rawdah (Prophet's Mosque) visits, and certain pilgrim services. It is available as a mobile app (iOS and Android) and a website (nusuk.sa).
Do I need the Nusuk app to perform Umrah?
Yes. To perform Umrah, you need an Umrah permit issued through the Nusuk platform. Without a valid Nusuk permit, you will not be allowed to enter Masjid al-Haram for Umrah rituals. The permit is booked after you arrive in Saudi Arabia.
Can I book the Nusuk permit from India?
You create your Nusuk account from India, but the Umrah permit itself must be booked after arriving in Saudi Arabia (as permits are tied to specific time slots at the Haram). Set up your account before you leave India.
Is the Nusuk app available in English?
Yes. The Nusuk app is available in both Arabic and English. The English translation has improved significantly in recent updates. Select English during setup.
How do I create a Nusuk account?
Download the Nusuk app from the App Store or Google Play. Open it and tap "Register." Enter your passport number, nationality (India), date of birth, and a valid phone number (Indian numbers are accepted). You will receive a verification OTP. Complete the setup with your personal details exactly as they appear on your passport.
How do I book a Rawdah visit?
Rawdah visits must be booked through the Nusuk mobile app (not the website). Log in to your Nusuk app, go to "Services," and select "Rawdah." Choose an available time slot during your stay in Madinah. Slots fill up quickly — book as soon as you arrive in Saudi Arabia.
What if I cannot get a Nusuk permit?
Nusuk permits are time-slotted and availability can be limited during peak periods. If no slots are showing, keep checking the app — slots are released regularly. You can also check at different times of day (early morning often has more availability). Without a valid permit, you will not be able to perform Umrah at Masjid al-Haram.
Does the Nusuk permit expire if I do not use it?
Yes. Nusuk Umrah permits are issued for specific time slots. If you miss your booked slot, the permit expires and you must book a new one. Book your permit for a time slot you are confident you can attend. If your plans change after arriving in Saudi Arabia, cancel and rebook as early as possible.
Can I use Nusuk for hotel and transport bookings?
The Nusuk platform primarily handles Umrah permits and Rawdah visits. Hotel and transport bookings can be made through the Nusuk platform in some cases, but most pilgrims book these separately through their travel agent or directly. Check the latest version of the Nusuk app for available services as features are regularly updated.
What language should I use when registering on Nusuk?
You can register on Nusuk in English. Enter all your personal details exactly as they appear on your passport — same spelling, same order. Do not use nicknames or alternate spellings. Your Nusuk account name must match your passport for permit verification at Masjid al-Haram.
